Vane Recycled Marble & Concrete
Public Art Sculpture for Chicago Sculpture Exhibit 2023
Public Art Installation
After receiving a 2021 Illinois Arts Council grant for my Modern Athena sculpture, I was able to convert my stone carving studio into a zero waste environment that recycles all carving rubble into casting material. This is my first attempt at a large scale sculpture using recycled marble and concrete for a public art sculpture in the Wicker Park neighborhood of Chicago, IL USA. The large scale feather shape of Vane references both vanity and weather vanes. Our vanity often desires to point in the right direction, but more often than not, is simply a feather twisting in the wind.
