Mixed Media Art Installation – Flying House 2012

For the mixed media art installation Terror of Release, I chose to focus on the vignette of a boy about to drown and his terror based upon an excerpt from the short story Ugly as Sin by T Gillespie. Fortunately he was rescued and I interpreted it as being rescued from himself amidst the dual fear of the person rescuing him and the rescuee. Why be saved? Why save him? And therefore in my mind I regard the piece as how a person was rescued from drowning and how an ugly duckling became a swan but only after he nearly drowned himself.
