Sculpture Commission – Hands Table Design in Limestone

The hands table design was for a pair of limestone sculptures for a coffee table. Balance was key for this sculpture. I created drawings and tested the design with small clay models and a plastic top before proceeding onto the full scale version. Since the coffee table would be the centerpiece of the collectors new living room, a pair of welcoming hands was deemed suitable. Loosely based on mid-century hands, the limestone sculptures needed to be strong enough to hold up the 150 lbs of glass and still have a dynamic gesture.
