Greek God Zeus

Marble Sculpture – Zeus Commission

Private Commission 2025

By referencing the past as an artist, I try to provide a clear link to the present. My works celebrates Hellenism, which is the unique leap that the Greeks made to move into a rational human centered world view that still celebrated the gods, but made them flawed or humanlike in their emotions. This sculpture of the Greek God Zeus is meant to be godlike but deeply human, caught not in anger but a state of reflection ready for action. I admire authors like Edith Hamilton, who wrote “The Greek Way.” Edith is described as the classical scholar who “brought into clear and brilliant focus the Golden Age of Greek life and thought … with Homeric power and simplicity in her style of writing”. Her works are said to influence modern lives through a “realization of the refuge and strength in the past” to those “in the troubled present.”
